Hellow Fellow Freelance Human Beings,
Welcome to datamusicata. This is a blog dedicated to you. I hope that I can offer you some helpful hints about how to follow your dream and be happy. I would like to give you all the benefit of my fifty years of performing, producing, singing, composing and joining battle with the forces of indifference.
This blog actually came out of experiences that can best be described as a musician's guide to houseguesting. Having slept in clubs, studios, and so very many sofas, guest rooms and strangers beds thru the years, I've learned how to best be invited back. I can't wait to pass it on to you. And I not only invite you to post a comment, I request that you do. I need your feedback to make this blog work; to make it useful to all who read it. So please leave a comment.
I am also including photos thru the years of folks that have helped me, and/or worked with me. Some famous, some not so. See if you can recognize any of these people. There will, of course, be a pop quiz later.
Overview:
I'll be breaking everything down into various categories and they will all remain on the blog, so that you can refer to any of them at your leisure. I don't know how long it will take me to say something relevant about each category, but for the moment, here are the categories:
Tips regarding: Guitar , Singing, Practicing, Performing, Recording, Booking Songwriting , Warm up, Gear, Producing, Radio, download, legal, house concerts: house guesting, getting an agent: interviews with successful musicians: creating an audience for your work: road experiences, and of course, random thoughts. Any of the categories that are in RED are links to that article, or you can just go to the journal and peruse them all.
I was thinking that perhaps you'd like to know why I think I might have some info that could help you. They say experience is the best teacher, so I have provided a thumbnail sketch of the experience I am bringing to this blog. If you want to, click on the About Me tab to the left and you can read about my credentials and experience, or you can just trust me and go directly to the tips by clicking on the Journal tab.
I am attempting to put up a new tip at least every other day, so check back every day or so for more gems from jamesville. Now just click on the Journal to begin our dialog. And don't forget to comment if you have a suggestion about anything that would help you or if you want me to address something that I haven't as yet.
All the best,
James Lee Stanley
